ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Steve Nash, Shooting guard Leandro Barbosa, Small forward Grant Hill, Power forward Amar'e Stoudemire, Center Channing Frye. Bench -- Forward Earl Clark, Forward Jared Dudley, Guard Goran Dragic, Forward Louis Amundson, Center Jarron Collins, Forward Alando Tucker. PLAYER NOTES: --G Steve Nash had 20 assists to go with his 18 points, topping the 20-assist mark for the sixth time as a Sun. That's one behind Kevin Johnson's franchise record. They are the only two Suns ever to record 20 assists in a game. Nash's career high for assists is 22, set in a triple-overtime loss to the Knicks in Madison Square Garden on Jan. 2, 2006. That was the only 20-point, 20-assist game of his career, which he almost got in regulation on Friday.
--C Channing Frye nailed a career-high six three-pointers -- hitting his first six in a row before finally missing his last try. He hit five three-pointers in the second half alone, one shy of a franchise record for three-pointers made in a half.
Frye's 22 points was his most in a game since Apr. 8, 2008 when he scored 22 for Portland against the L.A. Lakers. Before coming to Phoenix, Frye made a total 20 three-pointers in his first 278 career games and never more than two in a single game.
--F Amar'e Stoudemire had some anxious moments when his new goggles were broken during pregame warm-ups. A new pair was fetched before game time and Stoudemire scored 20 points in 30 minutes although his turnover total matched his rebounds (five). Stoudemire appears to have taken a step forward defensively and continued a preseason trend by taking a charge as well.
--G Leandro Barbosa scored a team-high 24 points and has averaged 20.5 points on 51.7 percent shooting including 45.5 percent from three-point range in the first two games -- which he started in place of the suspended Jason Richardson. Barbosa averaged 20.1 points in 11 starts last year.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--C Robin Lopez (broken foot) is out until at least the end of November.
--F Louis Amundson was his usual sparkplug self with seven points, eight rebounds and three blocks in 20 minutes. But he left the game with a sprained left ankle in the fourth quarter and his availability for Sunday's game with Minnesota is in question.
