--Journeyman forward Louis Amundson signed a two-year deal for the NBA veteran minimum. The second year is a team option. The Suns got a good look at the 6-foot-9, 238-pound Amundson during the Vegas Summer League when he averaged 6.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and one block a game in 17.6 minutes for Golden State. He showed the kind of strength needed to guard centers along with the quickness needed to take on many power forwards.
"(Coach) Terry Porter also saw him some last year and he played well against the Pistons. He's a versatile guy who can play the four or the five for us," Phoenix general manager Steve Kerr said. "Like Robin (Lopez) and Matt (Barnes), we feel like we've added another player with a strong motor. He takes charges, blocks shots and he can push the ball on the break." Kerr said the Suns went with the 25-year-old Amundson over bringing back veteran Sean Marks to continue a trend toward getting younger and more athletic on both ends of the floor. --After filling their holes on the court this summer, the Suns have filled one off the floor with ex-Sun Scott Williams taking over for Dan Majerle as a television analyst. Majerle is now an assistant coach under Terry Porter.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I run fast and I like to play fast basketball. I am ready for this. I have to improve and get better, but this is something I have wanted for my whole life. I am going to prove I can play in (the) NBA." -- New Suns point guard Goran Dragic.
